Mystery Experiment…

On entering the classroom this morning, the pupils were excited to discover an odd sight in the corner of the room.

Their task: to work out what on earth was going on!  They were fantastic detectives, showing off their scientific vocabulary while debating what the experiment might be.

This afternoon they explored evaporation and condensation as a means of separating solutions.

Calculating Perimeter

Today’s maths challenge was to find the perimeter of shapes with missing lengths.  Pupils worked together in groups with peer experts leading the discussion, first colour-coding the sides and then using the bar model to help work out the missing lengths.  Some quick column addition and, hey presto, perimeter calculated!
